Dark Chocolate

Chocolate is one of the most commonly foods that people eat when they crave of sweets. This is especially true for women. However, if you want to eat something sweet, then dark chocolate is best option for you. Dark chocolate is a chocolate that contains more than 70% cocoa. It also contains healthy plant compounds called polyphenols. Some studies have shown that the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of these polyphenols can help improve heart health. Like ordinary chocolate, dark chocolate contains sugar and fat. Therefore, you must limit yourself to a few pieces to satisfy your desires.

Freshly squeezed juices

When making sauces, marinades, salad dressings or pastries, you should consider adding freshly squeezed fruit juice instead of sugar. Just replace each cup of sugar with 3/4 cup of juice. Similar to using applesauce, it's important to reduce the amount of liquid in your recipe by using juice to replace the sugar.

Maple syrup

The juice extracted from maple is heat-treated, which vaporizes much of the water and leaves the sticky syrup concentrated. Although much less sweet than honey, it retains its flavour even in the heat, making it ideal for cooking. The syrup can be used in the same proportions as the sugar. Research has shown that it is pure and contains more than 54 antioxidants.

Coconut sugar

Coconut sugar is made from the juice of coconut flowers. In appearance, it is incredibly similar to brown sugar, but its texture is slightly granular. As for agave, its glycaemic index is low, but it contains less fructose.

Raw Honey

Honey has a high glycaemic index. Remember to reduce the total amount of liquids in your recipe when you replace the sugar with raw honey. For a cup of sugar, use 3/4 cup of honey, then reduce your wet 1/4 cup ingredients. Also remember that once the raw honey boils, it destroys its antioxidants, enzymes and nutrients, making it more bullet-proof. Use honey only in raw / cold desserts.


The stevia leaf is naturally sweet, more than 300 times sweeter than sugar! However, this botanist does not contain sugar. Dried in powder or liquid extract, it goes a little too far. It can be used to soften coffee, tea, smoothies, etc. When cooking, you should check your recipes that require sugar to account for the small amount of Stevia. You may have a bit bitter astringency, especially if you use too much.
